to defining the view of an Events section

  1. Navigate to the events section landing page (ensure Events section, ensuring that you are logged in , and have the relevant permissions to be able to edit the section).Click the 'Edit' button with the relevant editing rights and click 'Edit' on the edit bar at the top of the page
  2. You will see a form with eight tabs:
    1.  Content
      1. 'Title' - this is to give the section a title
      2. 'Short title' - this is to define a short title for the item that will show in navigation and define how the URL of the content is constructed
      3. 'Summary' - this is used as a description of what the section contains. This will be used in item listings and search results, as well as being displayed at the top of the section in certain display views
    2.  'Settings'
      1. 'Exclude from navigation' - if selected, this item will not appear in the navigation tree
      2. 'Hide the title' - if selected, the title will not be shown at the top of the page
    , and once you are taken to the edit form, navigate to the 'View' tab.On the 'View' tab, you will see five fields:
    1. 'Events path'
      1. Select the path that the events section is looking in. By default events .
      2. 'Dropdown navigation' - if you are using the section for the top-level navigation on your Haiku site, you can use this field to define which items of content within the section are listed in a dropdown menu from the section tab. To show items, move them from the left box to the right box. You can also reorder them using the up and down arrow. Note: Make sure you select items before moving them across or up and down.

    4. 'Categorization'
      1. 'Categories' - use this field to add categories to the section for it to be reused across your Haiku site. You will first need to add the categories that you want to use in the Taxonomy. You can see the documentation for the Taxonomy here.
      2. 'Type' - use this field to add a type to the section for it to be reused across your Haiku site. You will first need to add the types that you want to use in the Taxonomy. You can see the documentation for the Taxonomy here.
    5. 'View'
      1. 'Events path' - select path events are looking in. By default, posts are taken from the current section only. Enter '/' for site-wide searching.

      Select visible event categories'
      1. This selection box field allows you to define which events are listed on the landing page, by the category that they are tagged by. If all of the categories are in the left box, all of the events tagged by any category will be shown. If you would like to restrict the events showing by category, then highlight and move, using the arrows, only the categories that you would like to see, to the right box.
      'Select visible event types'
      1. This selection box field allows you Show only upcoming events' - check this box to only show upcoming events. Note: this is for when you are using the display 'Plain listing'
      2. 'Show images' - check this box to show listing image rather than the date of the event on image listing. Note: the date of the event will still be displayed in the detail text of the listing. Also, the following three fields will only show if this box is checked.
      3. 'Images position' - use this field to define where on the listing the images show in relation to the title and description
      4. 'Images ratio' - use this field to define which ratio of the images should be used in the Event listing
      5. 'Default image' - use this field to define a default image that will be shown for items that do not have an image associated with them
      6. 'Listing item extra info' - use this field to define which information related to each item will be shown on the Event listing page
      7. 'Select visible event categories' - use this field to define which events are listed on the landing page, by the type section listing using the categories that they are tagged by. If all of the types are in the left box, all of the events tagged by any type will be shown. If you would like to restrict the events showing by type, then highlight and move, using the arrows, only the types that you would like to see, to the right box.with
      8. 'Select visible event types' - use this field to define which events are listed on the section listing using the types that they are tagged with
      9. 'Select visible listing filters'
      10. This field allows you - use this field to define which of the filters you would like to display on the page, for your users to be able to filter filters are available for users to filter and search the events in the section by. If all of the filters are showing in the left box, all of the filter options will be displayed to a user. If you would like to select a specific set of filters to show your users, then use the arrows to highlight and move the filters that you want to show, into the right box.
    6. 'Always show listing filters if available'
      1. This is a checkbox field. The default for the events listing page, is to have the filters hidden, and provide the user with a button to show or hide the filters. If you would like to change this logic, so that the filters always show at the top of the events page by default, then check this box.
    Click the save button, if you have made any
      1. 'Select listing filters position' - use this field to define where on the page the filters will display
      2. 'Show load more button' - if you do not use the load more button, pagination will be used after the number of items to load limit has been reached
      3. 'Show number of events per tab/row' - if this field is checked it will show the user how many items there are int eh section/tab
      4. 'Enter the number of items to load' - enter the number of items to load at once or per tab. The minimum is 1, maximum is 50.
    1. 'Promoted
      1. 'Title for promoted section' - input a title that will show at the top of the promoted items
      2. 'Promoted events' - use this field to search for and select the event items that you would like to promote at the top of the section listing
      3. 'Listing: item extra info' select the attributes of the events that you would like to show in the 'Promoted' section
      4. 'Show images' - check this box if you would like to show the images related to the promoted items
