Practique allows for granular control of access and functionality within the system via User Groups. These can be defined by administrators in order to limit the access that some users have within Practique. Users can be in multiple User Groups at the same time, for example it is possible to be both an Item Author and Item Reviewer. If a user is part of multiple groups, the permissions that they have are additive - ie they will get the permissions of both groups.

Creating a User Group

Please see the video below on the steps to create a User Group.

Adding Users to User Groups

There are two ways to add users to user groups:

From the User Group Page

  1. Go to 'Settings > Practique User Groups'
  2. For the group you would like to add users to, click 'View'
  3. Here you will see the permissions included in the group, and the users assigned to the group.
  4. To add users to the group, select them from the 'Users not assigned to this group' box. You can add multiple users by holding the ctrl key on PC or cmd key on Mac.
  5. Click 'Add selected Users to Group'
  6. Note: If the user has previously been set up as an Admin, this will need disabling. See point 4 below

From the individual User's page

  1. Go to 'Settings > Practique Users'
  2. For the user you would like to add to the group, select 'Edit'
  3. On the User's page, under 'Available Groups' select the groups you would like the user to be in.
  4. Note: You will need to change the global permissions setting to 'Manually Assign permissions or Groups', so that the user does not have all permissions (Admin status)
  5. Click 'Save changes'
