You will need this information if you are looking to change the publications filter settings from their default, to utilise some of the more advanced settings.
Step-by-step guide
- Navigate to your publications section (make sure you are logged in).
- Select the 'Edit' button on the edit bar at the top of the page.
- You will be taken to the 'Edit Section' landing page. You will see 5 tabs across the top of the edit page. Select the 'Search settings' tab.
- You will now see 7 main fields:
- 'Search Method'
- This field is for the free text search box that is the top field on the filter.
- This field is required, because the search filter needs to know what behaviour you require. The two options in the drop down menu are:
- 'get' (recommended):
- GET requests can be cached
- GET requests remain in the browser history
- GET requests can be bookmarked
- GET requests should never be used when dealing with sensitive data
- GET requests have length restrictions
- GET requests should be used only to retrieve data
- 'post' -
- POST requests are never cached
- POST requests do not remain in the browser history
- POST requests cannot be bookmarked
- POST requests have no restrictions on data length
- 'get' (recommended):
- 'Show search box'
- This is a checkbox field that, if checked, will show the search box. If unchecked, the search box will not be displayed.
- 'Search field hint'
- This field allows you to change the feint grey text that shows as the hint in the search box. This is set to 'Keywords' by default.
- 'Show'
- This is a checkbox field that, if ticked, will show the hint text. If un-ticked, the search box hint text will not be displayed.
