You will need this information if you are looking to change the publications filter settings from their default, to utilise some of the more advanced settings.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Navigate to your publications section (make sure you are logged in).
  2. Select the 'Edit' button on the edit bar at the top of the page.
  3. You will be taken to the 'Edit Section' landing page. You will see 5 tabs across the top of the edit page. Select the 'Search settings' tab.
  4. You will now see 7 main fields:
    1. 'Search Method'
      1. This field is for the free text search box that is the top field on the filter.
      2. This field is required, because the search filter needs to know what behaviour you require. The two options in the drop down menu are:
        1. 'get' (recommended):
          1. GET requests can be cached
          2. GET requests remain in the browser history
          3. GET requests can be bookmarked
          4. GET requests should never be used when dealing with sensitive data
          5. GET requests have length restrictions
          6. GET requests should be used only to retrieve data
        2. 'post' -
          1. POST requests are never cached
          2. POST requests do not remain in the browser history
          3. POST requests cannot be bookmarked
          4. POST requests have no restrictions on data length
      3. 'Show search box'
        1. This is a checkbox field that, if checked, will show the search box. If unchecked, the search box will not be displayed.
    2. 'Search field hint'
      1. This field allows you to change the feint grey text that shows as the hint in the search box. This is set to 'Keywords' by default.
      2. 'Show'
        1. This is a checkbox field that, if ticked, will show the hint text. If un-ticked, the search box hint text will not be displayed.
    3. '
    4. 'Publication group selection hint'
        1. Text field to define hint text that is shown in the field.
    5. ''
